Front Yard

Privacy Policy

Effective July 22, 2026

Front Yard is a private, invite-only marketplace for people who know each other. This page explains, in plain language, what we store and why. The short version: we store what's needed to run your yard, we never sell it, and we don't run ads.

What we collect

Account: your email address (used for sign-in links and notifications) and a display name.
Store & listings: what you list — titles, photos, prices, descriptions.
Orders: what was bought, for how much, order status, and the messages between a buyer and seller on an order.
Pickup details: a pickup address if a seller chooses to share one — revealed to a buyer only after their order is paid.
Payment references: we never see or hold money, card numbers, or bank details. Payments happen directly between people on Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or Zelle. If a seller forwards payment-notification emails for auto-confirmation, we read them only to match an order code and amount.

If you email us

Mail sent to our support address is stored so we can read it, reply, and keep a record of the conversation — the message, who sent it, and when. Only site administrators can see it. Don't send us anything you wouldn't want kept: no passwords, card numbers, or government ID.

The weekly digest and email tracking

Yards can send a weekly digest email — but only to people who said yes. When you subscribe we record when, where and how you agreed; when you unsubscribe (one tap in any email, no sign-in needed) we record that too, and it takes effect immediately. For digest emails we track delivery and whether links were clicked, so sellers can see counts — never who — and so we notice when something bounces. Open tracking is approximate by nature (some mail apps load images automatically) and we treat it that way. Addresses that bounce or mark us as spam are added to a suppression list and not emailed again. Receipts and messages about your own orders aren't marketing and carry no click tracking.

Your agreement to the Terms

When you accept the Terms of Use, we store which version you accepted, the date and time, your IP address, and your browser's identifying string. That record exists so the agreement is provable for both sides. It is kept for as long as you have an account, and afterwards only as long as needed to resolve any dispute.

The activity log

Because real money changes hands between members (even though it never passes through us), we keep an audit log of actions on the site: sign-ins and any time something is created, changed, or removed — a listing posted, a price changed, an offer made. Simply viewing pages is not logged. This record exists to resolve disputes and investigate abuse, is visible only to site administrators, and is automatically deleted after about 13 months.

Where it lives

Data is stored with our infrastructure providers: Supabase (database & authentication), Vercel (hosting, plus the traffic and page-speed measurement described below), and Resend (email delivery). They process data on our behalf and don't get to use it for their own purposes.

Traffic and speed measurement

We measure how the site is used and how fast it loads with Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Both are deliberately privacy-preserving: no cookies are set, visitors are counted using a temporary hash derived from the request that resets every day (so nobody can be followed from one day to the next, or from one website to another), and the results are aggregate counts — page views, visitor totals, load times — never tied to your account, your name, or your IP address.

Because a web address can itself be a secret here, we clean it before anything is sent: private invite, event, and hub links are replaced with a placeholder, unrecognized query parameters are removed, and the admin console isn't measured at all. What Vercel receives is the shape of a page — never the key to it.

What we never do

No selling or renting your data. No advertising, no ad tracking, no profiling, and no tracking of you across other websites. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in — the traffic measurement above is cookieless. Your yard is invite-only: it is not indexed, browsable, or visible to anyone you haven't let in.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your listings and store at any time. To delete your account and associated personal data, or to ask what we hold about you, contact the site administrator — we'll act on it promptly. Some records (like the audit log and order history involving other people) may be retained for the retention period where needed for dispute resolution or legal obligations.

Age

Front Yard is for adults: you must be 18 or older to have an account. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective date.
